Abstract

Diarrhea is a condition of defecating more than three times in a day with lots of fluids. Diarrhea can be treated with a self-medication. Each person has a different sociodemographic characteristic so that the accuracy of self-medication is also different. This research aims to determine the effect of sociodemographic on the accuracy of diarrhea self-medication in consumers at Sumber Waras Drugstore, Mayangan Subdistrict, Probolinggo. It is a correlational study with a cross sectional approach. The sample was all consumers (total sampling) in April 2021 at Sumber Waras Drugstore, Mayangan Subdistrict, Probolinggo who had bought diarrhea medicine. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Data analysis used the logistic regression test with SPSS. The results show that the significance value in the overall test is 0.000<0.05, meaning that there is a simultaneous sociodemographic effect on the accuracy of diarrhea self-medication. While partially, the significance values of age 0.351; gender 0.699; education 0.005; job 0.471; and income 0.251 are obtained. In conclusion, there is a simultaneous effect of sociodemographic (age, gender, education, occupation and income) on the accuracy of diarrhea self-medication and partially the effect is the education on the accuracy of diarrhea self-medication in consumers at Sumber Waras Drugstore, Mayangan Subdistrict, Probolinggo.
